Telemark is a classic patterned cardigan knitted in Peer Gynt. The cardigan is worked from the bottom up with a traditional pattern according to the chart, giving it a timeless look rooted in Norwegian knitting tradition.

All patterns are in English.  Pattern for this design is an electronic PDF download, and the price of the pattern is included in this bundle. Pattern is only available with corresponding yarn.

Needles used (find conversions to US sizes here):

  • Knitting Needles: Knitting Needle no. 3½, Knitting Needle no. 4
  • Knitting tension: 20 sts = 10 cm
  • Accessories: 8 buttons

The sizes are indicative, and it is recommended to take measurements of the person who is going to wear the garment. The given dimensions are calculated according to the specified knitting tension. Note: Measurements are in centimeters (1cm = 0.4 inches).

Peer Gynt

Peer Gynt is produced in 100% Norwegian wool, soft and comfortable. This is Sandnes Garn's oldest yarn quality and has been on the market since 1938.  Suitable for knitting anything that will take a beating and still remain in good shape, such as garments for kids and men!

    • Peer Gynt: 100% Norwegian wool (non-superwash)
    • Peer Gynt Tweed: 75% Norwegian wool/25% wool (non-superwash)
  • Yardage: 50 g = approximately 91 m/99 yd

Product Details

The cardigan is worked from the bottom up. Stitches are first cast on for the front and back, and the ribbing is worked back and forth. Extra stitches are then cast on for the steek at the center front, and the work is continued in the round with pattern according to the chart. Finally, the work is cut open at the center front and for each sleeve before the front bands, neckband, sleeves and facings are worked. The model is 180 cm tall and wears a size M.
