Our farm yarn comes from the lovely Love Ewe Farm in Virginia!
Love Ewe Farm is owned by the McPhersons and is located in the beautiful rural setting of Montpelier Virginia, Hanover County, which is northwest of Richmond. Their house sits on 20 acres of farmland and it is where they decided to start breeding and raising Romney sheep.
Betsy is a retired nurse and empty nester, who is happy to have a flock to nurture and care for. Being a knitter, she adores ‘growing’ her own wool and turning their fleeces into beautiful yarn. Her husband Kevin grew up in northern Pennsylvania as a Future Farmer’s of America boy, and has loved farming from an early age.
All their yarn comes from Romney Sheep, formerly called Romney Marsh, a long wool, dual-purpose breed, originating in England. They are robust, hard-working sheep with a calm and gentle temperament. Each skein of yarn has the names of the sheep that the wool comes from.
