Sandnes Garn Classic MARIUS Sweater Kit [Women’s]

From: $111.00

The Slalom Sweater, originally designed by Unn Søiland, was launched in 1952 by SANDNES GARN as what would become their iconic “MARIUS-sweater” design. The design is still very popular, and it is SANDNES GARNS’s best-selling design to this day. The MARIUS sweater received the name as it was knitted for the alpine skier and world champion Stein Eriksen’s brother, Marius Eriksen, who was even depicted on the original pattern.  The MARIUS sweater has since been the symbol of Norwegian ski and outdoor living. SANDNES GARN maintains ownership rights for the “MARIUS” knitting pattern still to this day.

This classic pattern has been adapted for other garments and Sandnes Garn yarn qualities and can be found in hats, headbands, socks, sitteunderlag (sitting mats), mug covers, vests, cardigans and more. This kit includes a download of the Marius Laides’ Sweater pattern from the Sandnes Garn Tema 61 MARIUS Catalog, along with ALPAKKA ULL yarn. Feel free to personalize with your own color combinations!

*Yarn purchased in conjunction with a pattern is FINAL SALE only.**
