Manos del Uruguay

Manos del Uruguay is a non-profit organization founded in 1968 to improve the quality of life of Uruguay’s rural women through handcrafts using locally sourced wool. The organization is made up of 12 cooperatives located in small villages in Uruguay’s countryside. The yarns are hand-dyed and unique, keeping traditional hand-spinning skills alive. Each garment and yarn has an artisan signature and the name of the cooperative’s village. They also work with high-end brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, and Stella McCartney.
