A modern take on a classic motif! You can find the free pattern on Ravelry here

Iconic granny squares accent this hat for a look that’s both nostalgic and current. Flip the brim for a cute peek-a-boo or wear it down for maximum shade.

In this pattern, you’ll get to practice crocheting a traditional granny square motif, join as-you-go crochet techniques to seam the squares and then some simple increasing to make the top and brim of the bucket hat. Use the most retro colors you can find or stick to one solid color throughout for a more streamlined look.

The Halcyon Hat free pattern includes detailed photo tutorials as well as links to some relevant video tutorials. You’re going to love making this quick, satisfying project almost as much as you’ll love wearing it!

You’ll need approximately 145 grams of worsted weight (category 4) cotton yarn to complete this pattern in the following amounts:
Color A: approx. 115 g
Color B: approx. 12 g
Color C: approx. 16 g

For the class, we’re using Sandnes Garn Smart but we also recommend Lamana Ica (see options below).

Smart [DK/Superwash Wool]

Introducing SMART, a wool yarn that is both soft and durable, making it ideal for everyday wear.  SMART is also incredibly easy to care for, thanks to its superwashed wool composition. No need to worry about shrinkage or fading - this yarn can handle frequent washings and still look great.

Whether you're looking to knit or crochet warm and cosy garments for kids or adults, SMART is an excellent choice.

Running length per 50gr skein = about 100 meters/109 yds

For non-superwashed wool yarn, check out Peer Gynt.

**Sale yarn is final sale only**
