Cricket Loom Weaving

May 5, 2023 @ 11:00 am 12:30 pm

Level – beginner

3 classes on May 5, 12 & 19 – First class is 2 hours, the others are 1.5 hours

1 final celebration – a 30-minute long exhibition of the collection of fabrics, snacks and fiber friends welcome!

Prerequisite – an excitement and curiosity for tapestry weaving!

Whether you are a beginner to frame loom weaving, fiber arts, or both, this class is welcome to all! We will be working with texture, form, and pattern to create a collection of painterly fabrics. Be inspired, develop creative authority, and build artistic confidence in this epic new weaving class!

You will learn:
How to start and finish your woven fabric
Countless tapestry weaving techniques
How to turn inspiration into fiber art
Techniques to expand your fabric after it’s off the loom
The fundamentals of art and design

Materials:
Cricket frame loom
Mandarin Petit – 1 skein
Malibrigo Rasta – 1 skein
A worsted weight yarn – 1 skein
Plus any additional yarns!

Because this class really benefits from a larger selection of yarn types and color while requiring less yardage, I recommend we sell inexpensive mini skeins on cardboard bobbins in multitudes of colors in order for the students to use variety within their work, possibly using defective skeins.

$125
